SMOKESTACK is an innovative 9 piece band with three front female vocalists which was formed in 2014 by lead singer Mindy Smokestack. Their eclectic sound blends an array of 70's Lovers Rock with a Motown Riff, spiced with a little SMOKESTACK. The band was first formed to showcase their original music at the Hawaii Reggae Expo in 2014!
Inspirations: When I wake up in the morning to birds singing and the wind blowing through the Ko'olau Mountains.... I am inspired by the beauty that surrounds us but also by the pain and struggle of life's challenges, war and heartaches. Our biggest inspiration as a whole is the magic we feel when we play music together. It is the energy of the sound waves that unite us in passion. Some of our influences are; Amy Winehouse, Marcia Griffiths, Sharon Jones, Erykah Badu.
Mindy Smokestack is featured on two tracks on Love is the Conqueror sing Harmonies on Ku I Ka Pono and Mahalo Nui Loa Fa’afetai.
